Using the Gonstead method as the foundation, the late Dr. Werking developed his unique approach to treating extremity conditions specifically. He developed an x-ray marking system that parallels what Dr. Gonstead did with the spine.

*Only attendees who have completed both Upper and Lower Extremity Level 1 trainings are eligible to sit for the certification test.

  • General considerations in extremity care:

    • To develop a general approach protocol for the treatment of extremity conditions

    • Understanding acute protocol treatment

    • Learning cold and heat treatment protocols

    • Vertebral subluxations play a major role in extremity conditions

    Structural and neurological influences to the lower extremities:

    • How pelvic misalignments influence and create knee misalignments

    • Vertebral subluxations of the lower lumbar spine and its influences to lower extremity

    • conditions

    • Foot and arch instabilities and how they influence lower extremity conditions

    General knee misalignments and conditions:

    • Procedures for line drawing analysis on x-ray for a routine comparative knee series

    • Static and motion palpation for proper evaluation of the conditions and misalignments

    • Differential diagnosis for specific knee conditions

    General foot and ankle conditions and misalignments:

    • Proper motion and static palpation of the foot and ankle

    • General considerations resulting from inversion sprain, dynamics

    • X-ray analysis - a reasonable and customary factor in the treatment of extremity conditions

    • The routine, standard views for the extremities

    • Specialty views that apply for specific extremity conditions

    • Specific procedures in patient positioning

    • Patient protection

    • Weight-bearing joints need to be x-rayed in anatomically neutral, while weight-bearing for
